Mobile internet use to triple by 2014!
It is predicted that European mobile internet penetration will grow significantly, from 13% in 2008 to 39% in 2014. According to research, European mobile internet penetration will be 17% this year and reach 22% in 2010.
Facebook Mobile usage tops PC!
A recent survey from ComReg produced some interesting stats on consumer mobile behaviour. It now appears that consumers are accessing facebook more on their mobile than on the PC. The average facebook user visits the 3.3 times per day on their mobile, compared to 2.3 visits on the PC!
Apple's App Store hits a billion downloads!
Apple's App Store for iPhone and iPod Touch has served its one-billionth application, only nine months after the store opened! Last night Apple celebrated the milestone on its Web site, thanking customers for their support. The lucky App Store patron who downloaded the one billionth app will win a barrel of Apple loot from company. Apple also took the opportunity to brag about its success in the mobile ad marketplace and for driving massive amount of mobile Net traffic.
Text Record!!
Two Pennsylvania pals, 29-year-old Nick Andes and 30-year-old Doug Klinger, set a text-messaging record with 217,000 text messages sent in one month. That's 7,000 SMS a day, or 583 SMS an hour. However, Nick and Doug were surprised by a whopping $26,000 phone bill because they were relying on their "unlimited texting' plan. Probably not the best idea in hindsight…
EU slashes text and data roaming Charges
Finally, we need not be so scared of running up massive bills if we use our phone while on holiday!! The EU have recently brought in measures that will see text messages sent between EU countries to drop from €0.28 to €0.11 and wholesale data roaming charges capped at €1 per MB. These changes will take effect on July 1st, so getting texting!

A new study from Nielsen shows that consumers now use mobile phones more for text than talk - 70% of consumers say they've responded to a mobile marketing text message - compared to 41% who say they've responded to a web survey and 30% to email.
